Course Description
Whether you have reels of raw tape you want to get editing, a rough cut that needs a few more ears on it or just the seed of an idea you’ve never got round to developing, The Dark Room is a tutor-led weekly meeting group designed to help support and nurture independent projects and help you develop your skills.
It is also a great opportunity to meet other producers and exchange ideas and knowledge in a relaxed and friendly environment.
How it works
The group will consist of a maximum of 8 people – a mixture of students and professionals. Everyone is required to commit to a 6 session block, so that each set of participants can get to know each other and their work. Sessions are once a week and lasts 2 hours. Each participant should bring a specific programme idea or rough edit for development.
During these four weeks you will have the opportunity to:
1. Receive guidance and feedback from the professional tutor and from the group
2. Have your work-in-progress listened to and discussed by the group
3. Receive specific and tailored practical advice from the Tutor
The Tutor
The group is led by Nina Perry, an award-winning composer and radio producer who produces features for the BBC and internationally. She is also a university lecturer and tutor.
Course Prerequisites
